Abstract


IN A NUTSHELL
Nutritional assessment is the evaluation of the nutritional status of an individual or groups of individuals (population).
Protein energy malnutrition at cancer diagnosis is common in developing countries.
Malnutrition in patients has a negative effect on the function of the GIT.
Malnourished patients respond poorly to medical interventions.
Nutritional goals of paediatric oncology patients are to prevent deterioration of the nutritional status, poor growth, and improve their quality of life.
